Features Of Windows Live Mail Application

Windows Live Mail is a free email client program developed by Microsoft. It replaces Windows Mail on Windows Vista and Outlook Express on Windows XP, and works quite similar to Microsoft Outlook application. Windows Live Mail helps users access and manage their emails, contacts, calendar events, and schedules, even when they are not connected to the internet. Microsoft support center claims that this email client also allows users to configure multiple email accounts and manage them collectively.
Windows Live Mail can be downloaded either coupled with other programs in the Windows Essentials pack, or as a standalone application from trusted download centers. Here is a synopsis of the features offered by the Windows Live Mail program.
  • Manage multiple email accounts in a single interface. It supports configuring of all the prominent webmail accounts like Hotmail, Gmail, and Ymail.
  • Access data and read emails, even when offline. Windows Live Mail uses separate inbox folders for different accounts, and thus, keeps the interface uncluttered.
  • Organize contacts and manage their information in a professional way, synchronizing the data with Windows Live Contacts.
  • Manage schedules, calendar events, and set reminders for upcoming occasions. It also offers straightforward tools to synchronize data with the web calendar.
  • Compose emails with ease. Supports emoticons and functions like in-line spell check as well. It also allows sending of images and other attachments employing the Photo email feature.
  • Read News feeds and RSS feeds. Reply to the email links listed in the page directly.
  • Helps to block phishing with the potent spam filter included in the program.
Though the above highlighted points make it clear that Windows Live Mail is a beneficial program, the application lacks some features that were integrated in Windows Mail earlier. For instance, the ability to view or edit HTML emails by source, create emails with margins, and the Identities feature are not included in the program. Even the locally installed Help instructions do not cover Windows Live Mail.
Apart from that, the program is revived with numerous new features like inclusion of separate email folders, support for DeltaSync, WebDAV, and other HTTP based web protocols. The Scripted Stationery for the application is now available from Cloudeight Stationery. If combined with Windows Search, the program can also be used for full-text index based search.
Microsoft support center claims that Windows Live Mail application is gaining a steady popularity across the globe, and numerous users are looking forward to use the program instead of the all-time favorite Outlook email client.
