Creating A Distribution List In Outlook

Microsoft Outlook is the most popular email manager program in the world and once you setup email in Outlook, you may need to configure more options like creating distributions lists and so on. Here we discuss simple instructions for creating a distribution list in Outlook.

Instructions
  • Open the Outlook email manager program by double clicking on its icon in the desktop and then click on the Tools tab found in the application window.
  • When the drop down menu appears on the screen, click on the Address Book tab. If you do have many divisions in the address book, select the option labeled as Contacts.
  • For creating a new mailing list with the Outlook email manager program, click on the File menu and then on the New Contact Group option. Name the contacts group in a manner that enables you to easily find it.
  • Make sure that you have saved the newly created list to your contacts. Once you have setup email in Outlook with a new distribution list, you can easily add contacts to the list.
  • Now open the distribution list that you have created and then click on Select Members for choosing the contacts and addresses to be added to the distribution list.
  • Search for the person by typing in the first name of the contact and click on the Member icon found at the bottom of the window for adding new contacts to the distribution list.
  • Repeat the process for all people and contacts that you wish to add to the distribution list and then click on the OK button when done.
  • If you are adding a new email address to your address book, copy the entry to the distribution list after you have saved the original file.
  • Select the option labeled as Save and Close for saving the list and closing it. Now open the newly created distribution list and check whether all the contacts you have added are present in it or not. If not, follow the steps given above to add any omitted contact.
  • You can see the contacts in the list by clicking on the + sign found to the left side of the distribution list.
If you follow the simple instructions given above, you will be able to create distribution lists with Microsoft Outlook email client in a jiffy.
