How To Setup Outlook 2013 Using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync

Microsoft Outlook is a famous personal manager program and the latest version of the software is labeled as Outlook 2013. This version contains many additional features from its predecessors. We discuss the Outlook settings to be configured to connect Outlook 2013 to an email account via Microsoft ActiveSync. However, before you go through the instructions, make sure that the email account that you are connecting to the Outlook program has Microsoft ActiveSync enabled and make sure that the email supports SSL connection, as Outlook 2013 supports only the same.

Instructions
  • Launch the Outlook 2013 application by double clicking on its icon in the desktop.
  • When the application is loaded, go to the menu bar and click on the File tab.
  • Now select the option named Add Account from the drop down File menu.
  • Now you will be taken to a new page, look for the option named Manual Setup or Additional Server Types to select it and click on the Next button at the bottom of the window to continue.
  • Now a dialog box will appear asking you to choose the services; select the service as Outlook.com or as Exchange ActiveSync compatible service and then click on the Next button.
  • Now in the screen that appears, enter your username, email address, server and password information required to login to your account in the remote server. Remember to input your mail address in full format like user@domain.com and do not enter it as just User. If you are not sure about your email server address, contact the Outlook settings site or email administrator to get it.
  • After providing all the necessary information, click on the button labeled Next found at the bottom of the window to move forward.
  • Now a pop up window will appear of the name Test Account Settings. The Outlook program will now check your account settings by connecting to the remote server and if the connection was successfully obtained, it will be displayed in the pop up window.
  • Now close the popup window and then click on the Finish button to complete the configuration.
If you follow the simple instructions given above, you can easily configure the Outlook 2013 application using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync process. If you experience any problems while working with the Outlook client, feel free to contact the Microsoft support site for further assistance.
