How To Tackle AVG Internet Security Slowing Down Your Internet

Digital data often face threats from online attacks caused by viruses, malwares, Trojans, etc that can inflict serious damage to your computer. When these menaces emerged, the almost immediate response to their existence was the creation of antivirus software aimed at combating them, and protecting the data they targeted. From then on, the development of malware and security software became a never-ending, self-induced contest that is still on.

Some antivirus software like the AVG Internet Security offer free services to the user. They also have premium services that are chargeable, and are available for annual subscriptions. Though it is offered free of charge, AVG provides formidable protection, and it suffices for many users, who find it pointless to dish out cash for extra protection. Depending on the configuration of the computer, the full scans may slow down its performance. Problems like the internet slowing down indicate the slowdown of computer performance. For those who face such problems, there are other feasible options available.

What to do if AVG is impeding your internet
  • Try and bring up your RAM capacity. A portion of the computer’s CPU is used by every program that runs on it. If the RAM on your PC is limited, AVG may leave out only a little of it when it’s running a scan. This brings down the computer’s capacity, slowing down every other process.
  • Close the other programs during a scan, if you don’t absolutely need them to stay open. This applies mainly to memory-intensive stuff like gaming. Though the scan may not hinder other programs, it does slow down concurrent game play. This holds especially true in the case of online or graphics intensive games, whose frame rates are noticeably reduced, causing them to lag.
  • Set the virus scan for another time. This is an option provided by AVG. It lets the user put off the scan and select a later time for it. Set this time for a day when you won’t be using the PC much. Even if the computer does slow down then, it will be less noticeable.
  • Try an alternate virus removal option. There are other free antivirus programs like Avast, which may even surpass AVG in performance and protection.
These are the ways to tackle the problem of the internet slowing down on your computer. If you still face such issues, contact the AVG support team or get in touch with your internet service provider and seek further assistance
