Steps To Manually Install XP Updates

A system may underperform and can prompt many errors if it is not updated regularly. Regular updates can help your system perform better and at super fast speed. Microsoft allows its users to connect with the Windows XP update centre to keep their system updated with the latest updates and features and there by enhance their system’s performance. You can either manually choose these updates or make your system do the selection. Follow the instructions briefed below to manually install XP updates.

Microsoft support instructions to configure Automatic Updates

Click the Windows Start button placed on the bottom left corner of the home screen. From the Start menu pop up, select the label that reads Control Panel. Alternatively, you can launch the Control Panel from the Run command window. To do this, first launch the Run window by pressing Windows + R key. Place the mouse pointer in the search space and type Control Panel.
Hit the Enter key to initiate the search.
Hit the icon labeled System and then the tab labeled Automatic Updates.
Now, select either the Download Updates for Me, but Let Me Choose When to Install Them option or the Notify Me but Don't Automatically Download or Install Them option.
Either of the option will allow you to the install the update. You may prefer either to install the updates manually or to automatically install them.
Hit the OK button to save the changes.
Manually Select and Install Updates
Click the Windows Start button placed on the bottom left corner of the home screen. Instead, you may also launch the application by pressing the key imprinted with the Windows logo. You may also launch the same using the keyword shortcut combo Ctrl + Esc.
Click on the Windows Update link. This will launch the Windows Update interface.
Select the number of updates you intend to install. The numbers will then later get hyperlinked. When clicked, the hyperlink will list down a number of updates.
Check or uncheck each update. The updates that are checked in will get installed on your system.
Hit the Install button. Manually install the updates that you have selected.
